Six Months Earlier
Visari's Palace. Pyrrhus City

Sev sits on the steps of the Palace as ISA troopers rush to Intruders.

Rico: Sev! Sev! Are you okay?

Sev: No, Rico. I am not 'okay'! We had the guy. We had him. And you killed him! You killed Visari!

A pair of medics attempt to rusticate Visari as Jason Narville stands nearby.

Narville: Yes Sir... across the river...

Medic: Clear!

Narville: Can do. Absolutely. Of course General.

Narville ends his call and turns to the medics.

Narville: Tell me he's doing better than he looks.

Medic: I'm calling it. Time of death is 21:20 hours.

Narville: Oh, this is just perfect. Just goddamn perfect. Troops, listen up! We are mobile in five, so pack up your shit. Delta! You know the drill! Hooper, wheels, ASAP. Where the hell are Velasquez and Sevchenko?

Rico: Look, Sev. I just did what had to be done.

Narville: And I will make damn well sure he gets court-martialed six ways to Sunday for it.

Sev: Captain...

Narville: Sergeant Sevchenko. Sergeant Velasquez. Command's pulling the plug. They want us execute an emergency exit scenario. We're pulling every soldier off this planet.

Sev: We're retreating?

Rico: I ain't leaving. This war isn't even half finished. What is this bullshit?!!

Narville: Oh, no. This is NOT how this is going down. You insubordinate son of a bitch. I should just fast-track that court-martial and have both of you shot. Now, you shut your trap and you listen to me. Is that understood?

Rico remains silent.

Narville: Is that understood?!

Rico: Yes, sir...

Narville: Sergeant Velasquez! Are you too stupid to follow a direct order to shut the fuck up?

Sev: Captain.

Narville steps away from Rico.

Narville: Okay. Listen up. Intel has an advanced Helghast cruiser fleet zeroing in on our position. The General wants us en route before they shot their faces. The best chance we have is to cut through the Visari district and cross the Corinth river. From there it's due East to the extraction point, which is a crater the size of Kansas somewhere underneath that mushroom cloud.

Narville points to the mushroom cloud left by the Red Dust warhead.

Narville: We've got one shot at this. So we're doing this strictly by the numbers.

A HAMR IFV rolls up.

Narville: Nice job, Hooper. We don't have a lot of these babies. But they are our best best against whatever the Higs are putting in our way.

Narville, Sev, and Rico looks up to the sky.

Rico: What the hell is that?

An Arc Cruiser appears over them. It then fires an arc of electricity that sends buggies and some troopers flying. Everyone takes cover.

Narville: We need to Evac NOW! Sev! I need you to carve us a safe corridor. Move! Move!! Move!!!

Everyone boards their vehicles and make their way down. A Helghast trooper fires a rocket that destroys a buggy.

Sev: FIRE BACK!

Rico: At WHAT?

Sev: EVERYTHING!!

A Helghast APC burst from the side and knocks out a vehicle. It pursues the convoy and runs over a buggy.

Sev: Where the hell did THAT come from?!

Rico fires at the APC, which smash into the HAMR. The APC soon knocks the HAMR off the highway. Sev barely stops the HAMR from falling off a cliff.

Sev: (laughing) Yeah!

Rico: Hell yeah!

But the HAMR tips over and falls off the cliff.

Rico: Sev! Sev, you okay?

Sev: Yeah.

Rico picks up his weapon.

Sev: You see anyone else?

Rico: Maybe that way...

Gameplay #1

Rico: If Narville's still alive, he's heading for the river. We can get there if we follow that road below.

Rico: This isn't right, man. We shouldn't be running. The Higs are going to pick us off one by one.

An Overlord Dropship flies by over a street.

Rico: I don't see anyone... Wait. There's a couple Higs up ahead. Let's kill 'em quietly. Before they see us.

After killing the first Helghast.

Rico: There's another one around the corner... You take him.

After killing the second Helghast.

Rico: Nice.

Rico: Where the hell is the rest of the convoy?

ISA Trooper [Radio]: Hey Sarge! Over here!

Rico: Where are the others?

ISA Trooper: No idea. We think they're through this square.

After clearing out the first wave of Helghast.

ISA Trooper: Come on. The river's this way.

After clearing out the second wave.

Rico: Good work. Come on. Let's go.

Cutscene #2

Sev and Rico observes the devastated city.

Sev: Oh man...

Rico: Who nukes their own city?

Sev: I don't see Narville.

Rico: River's that way. That's where he said we gotta cross.

Sev: Yep. Just hope everybody makes it this time.

Rico: Listen, Sev... about Visari... I...

Sev: Forget it. I wanted to shoot him too.

Rico: But you didn't.

Sev: No. But that's because I'm not a jackass.

Gameplay #2

Rico: Listen. Those are ISA engines up ahead.

Rico: I gotcha covered.

Helghast Trooper: Sir, on the stairs!

Helghast Trooper: ISA!

After entering the courtyard, an Helghast closes the gate and blocking ISA forces.

ISA Trooper: Sergeant Velasquez. Damn, are we glad to see you. You guys seen the convoy?

Rico: You're not it?

ISA Trooper: No, sir.

Rico: Copy. Keep pushing for the river.

Rico: Cover him!

Once reaching the gate control.

Rico: Turn the gate control on the right side of the walkway. We'll cover you.

After the gate is opened.

Rico: That's it! Let's go!

ISA Trooper: You guys alright? We got a clear route. Follow us.

A arc of green energy appears in front of the ISA detachment.

ISA Trooper: Jesus Christ! What the hell was that?!

Rico: Find another way around. Well cut through.

Rico: This whole thing's going to shit. No-one knows what anyone else is doing. C'mere. I'll boost ya up.

Cutscene #3

Sev and Rico creep up behind some rubble and see three HAZMAT Troopers who are collecting the green energy. An arc of green energy is absorbed into the cannister.

HAZMAT Trooper: Be careful.

The Helghast takes the cannister to their dropship.

Rico: Let's get down there.

Sev: That's not our objective, Rico we gotta stick to Narville's orders this time.

Rico notice he has his left hand touching the green energy.

Rico: What the hell is this stuff?

Sev and Rico sees the dropship, which carries the logo of Stahl Arms, leaving.

Gameplay #3

ISA Trooper [Radio]: Helghast!

Rico: Here we go again.

Rico: Report!

ISA Trooper [Radio]: They came outta nowhere!

Rico: Let's clear the way for the APCs!

When approaching the museum's doors.

Rico: I'm gonna blow the door. Stand back. Ready?

Rico places the D-Charge and backs away.

Rico: Take cover! Helghast up on the balcony!

After clearing the Helghast in the museum.

Rico: Ground floor clear!

ISA Trooper [Radio]: Sarge, we're under fire from the roof! Higs with anti-tank RPGs!

Rico: Copy. We'll take them out. We better get topside.

When reaching the roof.

Helghast Trooper: Here! They're here!

Rico: There's the door! We gotta get through there.

After clearing the rooftop.

Rico: That's it. We're clear.

Rico: Look. There's the rest of the convoy. We better get down there and help Narville out.

Rico: Keep your eyes open.

Rico: Clear!

Cutscene #4

Narville: Verify those coordinates and we'll be fine. You're doing a good job son. Alright, get on it and get back to me. Sevchenko. Glad you could join us.

Narville friendly pat Sev's arm.

Narville: Velasquez.

Sev: Is this everybody?

Narville: The damn convoy's scattered all down the river. We're pushing through so we can secure the crater for the evac.

Sev: That's not such a good idea. The thinner we spread ourselves out, the easier it'll be for the Helghast to pick us off.

Rico: Yeah, good point. Sir, with all due respect. I'd like to suggest...

Narville: I think I made it VERY clear that I don't want to hear a SINGLE WORD out of your mouth. Sev, take Velasquez and his mouth out of my face. I need the two of you on point. We're going to use the EXO to clear the route.

Sev: Yes, sir.

Narville: Pick up your feet, people! The closer we are to that crater the closer we are to home.

Sev: Try not to think about it.

Narville: Sev, get that EXO moving!

Gameplay #4

EXO One: EXO One commencing sweep.

ISA [Radio]: Negative contact - wait. Hold back. I'm getting something...

Rico: Helghast!

ISA [Radio]: We got multiple targets!

A Trooper Carrier jumps on EXO One.

EXO One: God it's - Get it off! Get it off me!

EXO One battles the Trooper Carrier until finally destroying it.

EXO One: This is EXO One. I've sustained heavy damage. Resuming forward progress.

EXO One: This is EXO One! Critical system failure.

Narville [Radio]: Dorweiler, bail out!

EXO One: I can't! It's stuck!

EXO One is destroyed.

Narville [Radio]: Damn it. The EXO is down! Armor Five. Sevchenko and Velasquez are alone out there. Get your ass in gear.

Armor Five [Radio]: I'm on it Captain.

Narville [Radio]: This is the Captain! Scatter formation! Supporting fire!

Armor Five [Radio]: Armor Five proceeding.

Armor Five [Radio]: Captain, this is Armor Five. The road's blocked and it's too hot to go through.

Rico: We'll clear the ground troops.

After clearing the area.

Rico: The area's secure. We're green.
