The VC1 Flamethrower is a special weapon manufactured by Visari Corporation and exclusively used by Pyro Troopers. It appears in Killzone: Liberation, Killzone 2 and Killzone 3.
Design
The VC1 projects an ignited stream of flammable liquid at high pressure, allowing the user to arc the stream behind cover and splash nearby enemies; the flammable liquid itself consists of low-octane gasoline and an unidentified component indigenous to Helghan.

Killzone 2
Campaign
The VC1 Flamethrower has considerable reach which makes it ideal for flushing out hunkered down enemies from behind cover. Helghast enemies will be instantly set on fire and will continue to burn for up to 12 seconds.[1] Each second they are on fire means more damage that can take out all but the more elite enemies.[1] However, you can be damaged by the fire if not careful.[1]
The flamethrower can set walls and the ground on fire. Any fire laid down on hard surfaces will burn for 5 seconds. You can be damaged by this fire if walking through it.[1] This method can be useful for sweeping enemies as they run to dodge the fire.[1]
The VC1 is effective against Colonel Radec. Pouring fire on Radec will disable him and cause him to burn even when his camouflage is activated, effectively revealing his position.
Multiplayer
The VC1 Flamethrower is available in Warzone following the release of the Napalm and Cordite DLC. The VC1 can be found in Suljeva Cliffside, where it is strategically placed right in the middle of the map. This means that one has to rush and pick it up before the other players, making it a highly perilous move as the player will inevitably find himself under enemy fire. The Flamethrower can also be picked up by bots in offline multiplayer.
Killzone 3
Trivia
- Much like the StA3, the VC1's frame seems to be based on the German MG42, and the detachable fuel canister seems to be inspired by the flamethrower from the 1986 sci-fi/horror/action movie Aliens.
- In Killzone: Liberation the VC1 Flamethrower is classified as a ISA weapon for a unknown reason (the game shows the ISA logo besides it in the weapon selection screen).
