Solar Dawn is a Vektan action media franchise.

Background

Solar Dawn began as a TV series which starred the protagonist Clifford Rex (played by Ryan Grant). The show became widely popular on Vekta which led Raydiant Pictures to produce a planned film hexalogy, beginning with the 2390 film Solar Dawn, in which Grant reprised his role as Rex.^[1]

The 2390 film was released across Vekta and became a box-office success. But days after the film's release, Ryan Grant was publicly exposed as a Helghast by birth and the anti-Helghast Vektan public reacted very harshly to Grant. Due to Grant's Helghast heritage, Solar Dawn instantly received enormous backlash in which it was pulled from some theaters after threats of violence.^[2] After Grant was deported to New Helghan, Raydiant Pictures was granted permission by the New Helghan government to release a special cut of Solar Dawn, Solar Dawn Redux, in Helghast theaters and the film regained its popularity amongst an Helghast audience.^[3]

Trivia

• Solar Dawn is seemingly based on the 2002 American space Western drama television series Firefly, which its post-airing success led to the production of the 2005 film Serenity.
